Nowadays, image editing is becoming more and more popular. Maybe it's because a photo that was taken with a low performance digital camera isn't good enough or just because one wishes to add a personal touch to a photograph, making it stand up above the crowd. Either way, you need an image editing software. You could use Paint, the software included in Windows, but you will soon realize that it lacks a lot of options and that it has very limited image possibilities. Alternatively, you could use Adobe Photoshop, the well known advanced photo editor, but this is not for beginners due to the complexity of its functions. It also costs a lot of money and it requires powerful computers. A better solution is Better JPEG. As the name clearly states, the program can improve a JPEG image by changing certain parameters.

Better JPEG is not difficult to install and doesn't require much user intervention for completing the installation process. A couple of mouse clicks are all there is required. The program takes up little hard disk space compared to other similar software and requires the same low system resources as Paint.

The interface seems very easy to use, as all the options are correctly positioned. The user just needs to load a JPEG image or a folder of images. After completing this step, he can select one image or all of them to be modified. Various effects can be applied to images, like resize, crop, changing the brightness and contrast, fixing red eyes or adding text. Every option has its own settings. After an image or a set of images have been edited, they can be saved as JPEG files or printed directly.

Pros

It includes various customizable effects that can be applied to more than one image at once. Besides that, edited images can be printed directly.

Cons

The number of features and their complexity are limited. Besides that, the program only supports opening and saving JPEG files. Better JPEG is a useful JPEG editor for adding a personal touch to an image, making it better than ever.
